Guidelines for Ethical Conduct
Epidemiology and Ethics
The American College of Epidemiology has recently released to their members drafted Princilpe Guidelines for Ethical Conduct in the field of epidemiology. This draft has been presented to te ISPE's Board of Directors with the notion that comments from the ISPE members are to be encouraged. However the period of consultation expires on June 15, 1999. It is impossible to collect a harmonized ISPE view. As a compromise, the following course of action has been agreed.Members wishing to obtain a copy for comment can contact the ISPE Office at ispe@paimgmt.com. An electronic copy will be provided. Gottfried KreutzComments will be reviewed at the next meeting of the Public Policy/Ethics Committee during the 15th ICPE in Boston. At that time, the committee will consider how the ACE proposal may best serve ISPE. The committee will also consider whether to endorse, adopt or modify the ACE proposal as a possible foundation for the developement of an ISPE code of ethics.
