News from the Student Council

We hope you’ve enjoyed the career talks and technical webinars presented so far this year. If you missed any, did you know you can access previous recordings at https://webed.pharmacoepi.org. One way to ensure you don’t miss any announcements or events in the future is to sign up for alerts from the student council (and any other councils, special interest groups (SIGs) or regional interest groups (RIGs) that you are interested in) at the ISPE Exchange, by clicking ‘Join a community’, and then ‘Join’ next to the notifications you want to receive. SIG leaders want you to know that students are very encouraged to join SIGs. I know it can seem intimidating, but it’s a great way to hear about current events and network with people with similar professional interests.

Have you heard about the Student Council’s new initiative this year? We brainstormed how we could support students and promote learning and mentorship and created the ISPE Real World Evidence Research Proposal Competition. We are proud to say there was a lot of interest from students across the globe. Luckily the experts throughout ISPE really stepped up to serve as reviewers and we will be excited to announce the winning student team in August. Learn more about this competition.

Lastly, are you a student or early career researcher interested in getting involved with the student council to work on behalf of pharmacoepidemiology students? There are five positions on the Student Council, and we are holding elections at the annual conference in Berlin (August 27, 2024). Please consider nominating yourself for one of the four open positions: Co-Chair (2-year position, first year as co-chair and second as chair!); Academic and Educational Lead; Networking and Communications Lead; and Career Development Lead. This is a fabulous way to get more involved in ISPE, while having the opportunity to influence the type of webinars and events we hold in the future. There will be a call sent out on the ISPE Exchange (Student Council notifications) in July. We hope you had a great academic year and look forward to supporting your growth as a pharmacoepi researcher in the future!
